ABOUT YOGA
Yoga means union.
Yoga is a union of the individual with the universal spirit.
Yet this notion is too abstract to be easily understood, thus I say at our level of comprehension that yoga is a union of the body with the mental and the latter with the spirit.
Yoga acts on each individual in the aspect of personal development and improvement on the physical, mental emotional and spiritual levels.
It addresses the whole humanity. That is why it is said to be Sarvanbhauma, a universal culture.
Ninety nine percent of us suffer physically, psychologically or spiritually, one way or another.
The Yoga science helps us to tend the body as if it is a temple so it becomes as pure as the soul.
The body represents the apathy, the mental vibration and the enlightening soul.
Through developing the soul, the practice of yoga elevates it to the level of the mental vibrations, such as, both vibrating, the body and the mental would be attracted to the light of the soul.
Many are the paths for attaining the ultimate goal:
The science of the mental is called Raja – Yoga
The science of intelligence is called the Jnana – Yoga
The science of duty is Karma – Yoga
And the science of the will is the Hatha - Yoga
These words were more like musical keys on a keyboard. Many are the keys, but one remains, the music.
Moreover, there are a lot of words to express particular ways to broach yoga and particular paths allowing us to reach a peak point in its art.
Yet yoga is one.
Thus practicing yoga is unifying the body and the mental.
Yoga is traditionally divided into eight stages or aspects called Yamas, Niyama, Asanas, Pranayama, Pratyahara, Dharana, Dhyana and Samadhi.
Moreover, 3 levels may also be considered in yoga:
External, internal and intimate or physical, mental and spiritual.
Thus the eight stages of yoga may be divided into three groups: Yana and Niyana are the individual, social and moral rules;
Asana, Pranayama and Pratyahara lead to the evolution of the individual, to the self-understanding. Dharan, Dhyana and Samadhi are the fruits of Yoga which allow the contemplation of the soul, but are not included in its practice in themselves.
An astonishing equilibrium is to be established in life between philosophy and practice, if you manage to reach it, you will then be a practical philosopher. Pure philosophy bears no outstanding character. We must apply our philosophy to our day-to-day life, in a way allowing the latter, with all its ordeals and joys to be informed by the philosophy.
Can we succeed in our society life and remain loyal to our own evolution without renouncing our personal path?
This is the practical philosophy.
The yoga is above all the individual development.
Yet the development of the individual is the milestone for the development of the society and the community.
Why thinking to the violence of the world?
Why not thinking to the violence within us?
Each of us has to accomplish his/her own education, for without discipline one can not be free and without discipline there can not be freedom in the world. Only discipline brings true freedom. If you need to acquire health, do you imagine you can reach it without discipline?
Moderation in lifestyle is essential.
We must harmonize our lives.
The individual development is imperative. And yoga develops each individual.
Yoga works on our conscience.
Yoga works on our intelligence.
Yoga works on our sense. Yoga works on our flesh.
Yoga works on our protecting organs.
Thus is it called the global art.
When your body, your mental and your soul are in good health and in harmony, you will be bringing health and harmony to your circle, health and harmony to the world. not by withdrawing from the world, rather by being a living and healthy organ in the body of humanity.
